Shippensburg Defeats ESU IIPublished on: October 18, 2011
Saturday afternoon, ESU II fell to Shippensburg University 7-3 at Revolution Ice Centre. This would be the ESU II’s first lost of the season after a hard fought battle at home. Leading the scoring for the Warriors was Tom Fallon with a goal and an assist. In the first period, Ship would be the first to get on the board thanks to a goal by Zak Brisko almost ten minutes into the game. Ship would score once again five minutes later on the stick of Matt Gerber. The Warriors would then fight back and score two more goals before the period was over to tie the game at two. Scoring for the Warriors was Donny Flannely and Tom Fallon. Shippensburg would come out strong in the second period and score three unanswered goals to bring the game to 6-2. Shippensburg’s three goals would be the only goals scored in the second as the Warriors remained with just two goals. The Red Raiders would once again be the first on the board in the third period thanks to a goal by Shane Cunningham. The Warriors would then answer with a goal by Ricky Szygiel to bring the game to 7-3. This would be the last goal of the game as the final score was 7-3. After their loss against Shippensburg, ESU II will play Lehigh Univeristy on Saturday at Steel Ice Center in Bethlehem. Puck drop is set for 7:15.
