ESU I Upsets Scranton in 2nd GamePublished on: November 10, 2011
Sunday afternoon, ESU I defeated the University of Scranton 7-1 in their second match up of the weekend. Ricky Szygiel led the way for the Warriors with three goals for the Hat Trick. About half way through the first period, Ricky Szygiel would have the first goal of the game on a rebound picked up in front of the net. This would be Szygiel’s first goal of the season. Szygiel’s goal would be the only goal scored in the period and the Warriors had a 1-0 lead after one. In the second period, the Warriors would start out the scoring on a shot by Ricky Szygiel for his second of the season and the game. Nearly three minutes later, Szygiel would find the back of the net once again for his third goal and the Hat Trick. Five minutes later, Matt Denega would score his first goal of the season to give the Warriors a 4-0 lead after two periods of play. In the third period, Eric Cudnohufsky would start out the scoring for the Warriors on a pass from Joe Walsh. Walsh would then score a goal of his own shortly after Cudnohufsky’s to bring the game to 6-0. Scranton would then score its only goal of the game on the power play goal from Spencer Cohen. With a minute left in the game, Frank Callahan would score his second goal of the season and bring the Warriors to a 7-1 victory. For their next game of the year, ESU I will take on Neumann on Saturday at Ice Line in Aston. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM.
